HOG MEMBER OF THE MONTH "February 2011" Members of the Month Harry and Eileen Spencer Harry and Eileen joined the HOG Chapter last year and have become active members! They can be seen at the many events and are always ready for a dinner ride! They are always happy to lend a helping hand. Eileen told me the story of the way she and Harry met like this....."Harry and I met on a blind date, almost exactly 40 yrs ago (2/6/71), and were married on 8/4/73. I was a freshman at Mansfield State college. He was a ‘townie’, in addition to being an unemployed Vietnam vet, who was nearly 5 years older than me. (My parents were appalled!) However, I finished college and he went on to run the water treatment plant at MU; but after nearly 38 yrs of marriage, I don't think my mother is yet convinced that it will work out. " Harry served in the Military from 1969-70 in Vietnam. Thank you Harry for your service! Harry & Eileen have 2 daughters. Laura who lives in Syracuse and Carolyn who lives in Elmira. Harry has been riding motorcycle for a bit more than 2 years. I personally know that safety and practicing safe riding are important to Harry. He attended the PA Motorcycle Safety Program at MU when he began riding! He now encourages everyone to take the class. I was Harry's Rider Coach at the PAMSP and enjoyed Harry's sense of humor and wit! Harry enjoys the 100 mile hugs that he gets from Eileen on their 2009 Black Sportster 1200XL! However, a little HOG told me that a new bike might be in the works. The Spencer's have been on rides to Sodus Point, NY, Dubois HD and Skaneateles just to mention a few places they have been! Harry told me that he enjoys any ride/destination that includes a meal! Harry & Eileen both plan on being active members of the chapter and riding whenever they can! Harry feels very lucky to have been able to retire from MU as the Labor Foreman and Water plant Chief. This will give them more time to ride.....and eat!! Harry & Eileen said "We're not exciting", but I know that's not true! They both enjoy the wind in their face and the freedom of the open road~~How much more excitement can you ask for!?! I know that you would join with me in saying that Harry & Eileen are a great addition to the HOG family here at the Endless Mountain Hog Chapter! They hope to see everyone "On the Road" again soon! |
